Join PlanBi Together Community Beekeeping (Andelsbirøkt)
Become part of the fascinating world of bees in our new, vibrant community.
What Do You Get as a Member of PlanBi Together?
PlanBi Together offers everyone – regardless of experience or knowledge about bees – the opportunity to own a share in our beehives.
When you join, you pay a membership fee upfront and become a 1/10 owner of a beehive at PlanBi Together. Throughout the season, we harvest honey and distribute it equally among all members.
On average, a beehive in Stavanger produces about 25 kg of honey per year. This means your share will provide around 2.5 kg of honey – enough to supply a year’s worth for two people or a small family. You’ll receive local, pure, and untreated honey, straight from the hive to your home. And if you’re a true honey enthusiast, you can always buy more from our additional hives.
The hives are carefully managed by Armin and Audun from PlanBi, who take primary responsibility for the bees’ health and well-being. We organize various workshops and keep you updated throughout the year, so you can choose the experiences that suit your interests.
Your membership offers several opportunities during the season to visit the bees that create this delicious honey just for you! We provide protective suits and gloves, so all you need to bring is a curious and eager-to-learn attitude. You decide how much you want to participate in the activities!

Ever Wondered What It’s Like to Keep Bees, Get a Unique Glimpse into Their Fascinating World, and Contribute to Local Honey Production?
Typically, to get up close with bees, you’d need to own your own hives. But what if you lack the knowledge, experience, or space to do so? PlanBi Together offers a simpler way to dive into beekeeping by inviting you to become a co-beekeeper of our hives. By joining as a member, we’ll guide you with everything you need to take that first step into caring for bees and producing honey. You can participate in the activities that interest you the most.
PlanBi Together operates on a membership model, giving you the flexibility to engage in experiences that fit your schedule and interests. Our mission is to increase participation in urban beekeeping, make our activities accessible to more people, and raise awareness about the importance of bees and beekeeping as a craft. We also aim to foster a greater appreciation for local honey in our city!

Become a Co-Beekeeper with PlanBi Together
As a member of PlanBi Together, you become a co-beekeeper, joining hive inspections and activities in our honey extraction room. Here, you’ll learn the basics of beekeeping through hands-on experiences. Membership gives you the opportunity to explore beekeeping at your own pace, with the option to expand to more comprehensive courses if you decide to deepen your knowledge.
Hive Inspections
We conduct hive inspections in small groups of 4-5 people. We intentionally keep the groups small to ensure that everyone gets the chance to observe, ask questions, participate, and fully enjoy the experience. Inspections are conducted nearly every week during the active season to monitor the bees' well-being. While full-time beekeepers conduct weekly inspections in the summer, as a co-beekeeper, you’ll experience the work without taking on full responsibility.
We meet at scheduled times depending on the weather (beekeeping isn't ideal in the rain). If the weather is unfavorable, we plan an alternative date. Our hives are centrally located in Stavanger, Randaberg, Sandnes, and Sola, all with easy access. You’ll be assigned a hive share in your area.
Each inspection lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the tasks at hand. Armin or Audun will start by explaining the day’s objectives and the purpose of the visit. As we work, they will describe what’s happening inside the hive and explain its significance, offering plenty of learning opportunities along the way. We blend practical tasks with theory to provide a deeper understanding of beekeeping.
Workshops
When it’s time, we harvest honey frames from the hives and extract the honey indoors. This method ensures local, sustainable honey with a minimal environmental footprint! We have a complete setup for honey processing, and honey extraction days are organized in groups of 4 people, either on weekends or evenings.
Participating in the honey extraction is a truly unique experience, where the honey transforms from frames to jars. It engages all the senses – from the sweet aroma and sticky fingers to the unforgettable taste of honey straight from the frame!
Beeswax has a wide range of uses. During our beeswax evening, we’ll explore various applications and create products like lip balm, salves, and more.
We often harvest honey from multiple hives, so throughout the season, you’ll have access to different honey varieties, each with a unique flavor that reflects the season and the bees’ hard work. We’ll highlight these differences during a special honey tasting at the end of the season.
Season Finale
Honey isn’t just honey – each one has a unique taste and tells its own story. We’ll explore the distinct flavors of the honey harvested through your hive shares, as well as other honeys PlanBi has collected from different locations.
Finally, we’ll divide the honey, and everyone gets to take their share home.
